The Story

Blue Chip Pet Care was founded on a simple need. Hunter Reed was living in a condo building in downtown Nashville and realized that he needed some extra help with his Brindle Boxer Bella.  He worked long hours and could not get home on the lunch break to take Bella out and it was even more difficult to find someone dependable when he had travel plans.  Hunter discovered a couple independent pet sitters but was hoping for a professional company that could feel his needs on a regular basis and one that had a variety of services in place. 

Hunter Reed founded Lucky Dog Nashville on April 27th 2009. He created a business with six basic services that catered to the working professional pet owners who lived downtown and in the surrounding suburbs.  After three months he hired his first pet sitter to help with client needs. Before he knew it he had eight pet sitters under him all fulfilling client needs and he had services on a schedule three-hundred and sixty-five days a year. He was generating more income than his previous corporate job, he had more control over his personal schedule and was able to spend more time with family and friends.

Blue Chip Pet Care was founded on the basis to Franchise the Lucky Dog Nashville model to others who had a love for animals and who have dreamed of owning their own business.

The term 'Blue Chip' means reliable, quality and the ability to operate profitably in good times and bad. Hunter believes that “Blue Chip is what sums up the core philosophy since the industry as proven recession proof and the company goals are to provide a reliable and high quality service.”  The current goals are to continue serving pets and pet owners in Nashville, TN as well as supporting others to build a business through franchising the Blue Chip Pet Care model.

Hunter graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Minor in Business Administration.  He has worked in State Government, for Dell Inc. and worked in the healthcare sector.  Hunter is currently enrolled n the Manchester Business School, in the United Kingdom to further develop his understanding of Business Management and gain international experience.  When he is not working he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
